Everything you need to know about the AISIN Multimedia
headunit and how to take advantage of it! |
The Gallardo AISIN is
similar to the AUDI's RNS-E. Internally they are nearly
the same, externally the bezel and fitment on the
Gallardo was made only for Lamborghini. The internal
firmware, programming and coding are also different.
Contrary to popular belief ALL Gallardo AISIN units have
navigation capabilities. Even if yours does not allow
Navigation, this feature among other features can be
unlocked, opening up a whole new driving experience.
** We have many other options
available for the Navigation, these below represent the
most common options Please visit the main
Multimedia Page
Security PIN Code
It is important to know
that the original owner's manual contains a Radio PIN
code. This is a 4 digit number that is used to activate
the unit. In the event the headunit is ever removed, reinstalled or
moved to another car, you must have this 4 Digit PIN
Code to reactivate the unit. If you do not know this
code, Lambostuff offers in-house
PIN code retrieval service, if you need the PIN. This
service can not be performed with the Unit in the car, it
must be removed and shipped to us. We have to extract
the code in the unit's EPROM (computer chip).
Dealership have a limited ability to retrieve this code
from the factory and can only do so if you own the Car
the radio was originally installed and know the VIN.
Navigation
Options
As mentioned above, ALL
AISIN units have navigation capabilities. However since
this was a very expensive upgrade dealer option, you may
not have this capability turned on. If you push the NAV
button on the unit and it asks you to insert a
Navigation DVD, chances are you don't have this option.
Owner's wishing to add this who go to most dealerships,
will be told that a new headunit must be purchased (The
Navigation Kit) This will set you back upwards of $6 -
$7,000 after you include all of the wiring and
components you need and then have it installed. In most
cases this is just because the factory tells the
dealerships this is the only way it can be done. This is
simply not true. Lambostuff has all of the equipment and
ability to unlock this feature on ANY AISIN Gallardo
unit. From there you simply need the GPS Antenna, the
maps DVD. installation takes about 15 minutes. The last
step which is optional, is re-coding your Gallardo to
tell it you are using Navigation. This can be done with
anyone who owns a Lamborghini LARA diagnostic system.
Making this change, activates the cluster information
box, that tells you direction and current road you are
driving on!
Multimedia Options
When we unlock your
navigation, we also unlock your ability to connect and
use the Multimedia options. We group rearview camera,
Bluetooth, USB and iPod/iPhone into this category.
|
Rearview Camera
To connect a
rearview camera, you connect an audio/video
source to the ASIN's Multimedia plug on the back
of the unit. You need
1. A
multimedia AV interface, that has an RCA video
source plug.
2. Then you need a
camera.
The
installation is a little more involved, but
still easy for most do-it-yourselfers. The
hardest part, is routing the RCA and
power cables from the headunit to the rear fo
the car. If you drive a manual shift, you may
also have to install a switch, or connect to the
rear brake lights to activate the camera screen
on the unit. eGear owners, typically do not have
to do anything, when you activate the reverse
gear, the headunit turns the camera on. The Unit
may also have to be coded to tell it that it has
a Camera. This coding is provided free of charge
if you purchase the kit from us, but it will
have to be sent. The RCA and power wires are
easily obtained from your local Audio/Video sources.
Bluetooth/Cell Phone Connection
This is an awesome feature and one of the most
expensive add-ons (At least from the
dealerships) Lambostuff re-engineered the
factory installation harness, so that the
installer no longer has to wire-tap and solder
into the car. Our kits now are 100% plug and
play. They are also 100% ORIGINAL FACTORY PARTS,
the only difference is the modifications to the
harness to make installation a snap! In order to
add bluetooth, you need to purchase the
Bluetooth kit. The kit is factory and includes
the ECU, Microphone, and wiring harness. Once
installed, you marry your Cell phone and now
every time to enter your car, you can make and
receive call from the headunit, completely hands
free. Also if your unit is not unlocked or if it
has never had Bluetooth before, it must be
unlocked and/or recoded. If you purchase the
Bluetooth from us, we will code your unit for
free (This does not include unlocking the NAV,
only re-coding the unit to run bluetooth) , but
it must be sent to us. Like the
Navigation, you may need to bring your car to
someone with a LARA diagnostic system that can
code the car to tell it that it is using a
Telephone to fully use the system.
iPod/USB
The iPod/USB
interface allows you to fully control your play
lists and music from you iPod, Nano, iPhone
etc.. by using the Unit's built in AUX
controller. If you already have the optional CD
changer in the trunk, this REPLACES that
functionality. You can not use the iPod/USB and
the remote changer in the same car. Most realize
that you can covert old CD's to MP3's and place
on a standard SD card and play the music
digitally from the Unit so this should not be an
inconvenience. The iPod kit is a much efficient
way to enjoy your music. To add the iPod/USB
option, you only simply need to purchase the
kit. There is no special coding or unlocking
needed. It is all plug and play. We have two
options, the "Factory kit" or the Lambostuff
Kit. They are both manufactured by the same
company, however the difference is the factory
kit does not provide text in the cluster of
what's playing, nor does the interface act as a
charger. The factory interface still requires
you to use the iPod's battery for play. The
Lambostuff Kit, combines the Factory kit with
the updated manufacture's interface to allow for
both text and charging capabilities. If you plan
to use the iPhone, it does require the optional
power booster, that increases the required
amperage to charge the iPhone, however it can be
done.
